The Disc Trucker is a no-compromise, no-nonsense old school, but re-tweaked long distance touring bike. Unlike a gravel bike, it's designed for carrying heavy loads, steady-Eddie, - mainly on paved roads, but is happy to mix it up with a bit of rough stuff when necessary (that er, being part of the the point of long distance touring). The re-tweak of the original 2012 design includes a shortened seat tube and sloped top tube for better standover; increased stack height and 'Truck Stop' bars for a more upright riding position; 12mm thru axles for stiffer feel and increased loaded stability and extra braze-ons for mounting more gear. They've stuck to their trusted 3x9 traditional mountain bike based transmission which is just right for the job. Surly would probably bristle at the description, but it's a timeless classic.
